Early Spring

The calendar may say that spring starts next week, but as far as I’m concerned, the opening day of Page Dairy Mart signifies the real start of spring. Kind of like how summer wasn’t really over until they closed (I was there that day too… I might have a Page’s problem).

We braved the chilly – not cold, merely chilly – weather and the steady drizzle of rain to wait in line with what seemed to be a crowd the size of the entire population of Wilkins Twp. Eventually, we made our way to the front, but not before one of the employees came out to tell us all they’d run out of vanilla ice cream. So my plans for a Nancy B’s hot chocolate chip cookie sundae were thwarted, as were my backup plans for a Yinzer sundae. Instead I got a hot fudge sundae with chocolate peanut butter ice cream. It was delicious and well worth the wait… but I’m already looking forward to that cookie sundae later in the season, not to mention the awesome South Side Shakes!
