Around lunchtime today, I took a quick break to grab some groceries. While in the store, my belly started to growl, which of course meant I grabbed things I didn’t need. One of the things was smoked salmon. I knew I had cream cheese at home, and capers, so I figured I’d have a bagel with cream cheese, salmon, capers, and onions for lunch. Excited about my new lunch plans, I headed home with my gear in tow. You probably see where this is going.
When I got home, I opened up my freezer and had a sad realization – there were no bagels in the freezer. Not a single one. Dejected, I settled for a salad for lunch, but I couldn’t get the darn bagel combo out of my head.
So I made my own, and that’s what I had for dinner. This wasn’t the first time I’ve made bagels, but it has been awhile. I don’t know what I did differently this time, but these turned out better shape and taste-wise than my previous attempts. Guess all it takes is the promise of salmon and cream cheese to make me concentrate on what I’m doing and make better bagels! 🙂
