This afternoon was a pretty special occasion, as I finally got to meet my Little! She’s just as awesome as I expected she’d be, based on the descriptions from her mom and the match specialists, and her family is pretty great as well. We officially signed our match agreements – my Little, her mom, and me – and made plans for our first outing. Thanks to the BBBS organization, we were gifted two tickets to the Carnegie Science Center, so that’s where we’ll be heading on our first outing. Little seemed pretty excited about the science center, and I’m always really pumped to go there, so it sounds like we’re off to a great start!
After we had our meet & greet and I was on my way, I headed to the gym. As I was getting ready to leave, I saw a volunteer email response from an email I’d sent earlier in the day, asking if I was available for a special assignment of sorts. Friday night’s event was a special assignment as well, so this marks my second one in just a few days. I guess this is what happens when the lines of communication are opened up. 😉
Anyway, it turned out to be a fantastic day since I got to support not just one but two volunteer organizations. I wasn’t even on the on-call schedule, so that made tonight even more fun for me. I love having the opportunity to spend nearly my entire evening (and night – I just got home) doing stuff for other people. Sure makes being selfish seem boring. 🙂
