Today was gosh-darn insane from the get-go.
I woke up at around 7 and immediately got to work – I had a very long to-do list for the day and I needed to get most of the things on it done before 4pm. Among my accomplishments: went to the bank, 2 loads of laundry, 4 work meetings I was dreading, unpacked from Dallas, cleaned up the bathroom and the bedroom, changed my sheets and finally found my summer bedspread (I didn’t realize until last night that I was still using the winter comforter… let’s just say it was an uncomfortable night), scheduled two volunteer orientations with new volunteers, requested someone else to lead one of the orientations, set up future orientations on our team calendar, troubleshooted three big work issues, and cut my grass. All before 4pm.
At 4, I changed my clothes and headed to the volunteer office to have my monthly 1 on 1 with my manager. This meeting was a little different, though, because they finally filled our specialist’s position and that person started today. So I had my meeting with both staff members, which was interesting. Afterwards, I took some time to organize some of our team orientation materials before heading home.
Once I got home, I changed my clothes yet again and took to the yard with hedge trimmers and cut the crap out of the bushes in my front yard. All of this, before 9pm.
After 9, I got a shower and started to eat dinner, and then the texts from volunteers started regarding some regional stuff and some stuff about our upcoming meeting. Now it’s nearly 11pm and I’ve finally silenced the texts, answered the emails, updated the documentation, made the notes for tomorrow so I know the best way to start off running, and I’m still eating dinner. I still need to pack my work gear and volunteer gear for tomorrow since I’m on-call, but I might just wing it and wait until morning.
I may have been motivated to get a ton of things done today, but now I’m just motivated to crawl into my bed with my clean sheets and summer bedspread. Thank goodness this Monday is over.
