I was supposed to be at a disaster drill this morning, but I’m staging a small, silent protest. Instead, I updated a whole lot of documentation so that anyone can step in and do my volunteer job in the unlikely event I leave, get a new job, or die. It’s good to be prepared, you know?
It felt really strange, though, sitting out a big event like today’s. I received text messages and pictures from people who were there and I realized just how much I love my fellow volunteers (even if I don’t miss some of the political stuff that happens when you get to a certain level). I didn’t like the feeling of missing out; it was uncomfortable. I felt like a fish out of water.
Speaking of fish, for lunch right before work, I grilled up an Alaskan pollock burger from Costco and topped it with some pineapple salsa. It was fannnnnnntastic and really hit the spot.
Off to work now; fingers crossed we make some decent money!
