I took my fair share of Spanish in high school and college, and even skipped several years of it (thanks, French, Latin, and Italian!). So I know that the word película means film in English, but I was always told it means film like movie. Tonight, as I was scrambling to get our cleanup done at the bar, I noticed the box of food service wrap/plastic wrap and the Spanish side was facing towards me. Película para servicio alimenticio – food service film. For some reason, I never equated the word película with plastic wrap film before, only movie film. But I guess it makes sense – after all, we use the same word for both in English.
So yeah. Learned something new today. Yay, me!
